  • Dates: Dried dates have been used for this recipe. Mejool dates can be used but less water will be needed. Try reducing the water by half and then adding a teaspoon at a time until you achieve the correct consistency. The bliss ball mixture should be moist but not sticky. Dates are a good source of some essential vitamins and minerals, contain antioxidants and are a good source of fibre to promote good digestive health 1

  • Chia Seeds: Whole Black and White chia seeds have been used in this recipe, although any type can be used.   • Place the dates into a food processor and process for approximately 20 seconds.
  • Add the almonds to the food processor and process until they are quite small. Approximately 50 seconds.
  • Add the oats, psyllium, chia seeds, cocoa, and protein powder to the processor and process for approximately 10 seconds or until mixed.
  • Add the vanilla, melted coconut oil and the water and process until smooth.
  • Add a little more water if the mixture is too crumbly or dry.
  • Stir through chocolate chips.
  • Roll the mixture into level tablespoon-sized balls.
  • On a flat plate, sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup desiccated coconut and roll each ball in the coconut.
  • Place into the fridge to set for at least an hour.

Notes

 
  • Coconut oil is sometimes solid at room temperature. To melt it, place the desired amount into a small glass microwave-safe container and microwave at 50% power for 10 seconds bursts until melted.
  • These Bliss balls can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • Either dark or milk chocolate chips or cocoa nibs can be used for this recipe.
