Or, alternatively, store-bought popped corn can be used instead.

Why is this a healthy snack?

Notes:
To make air-popped popcorn:
  • Microwave Method: Place 2 tbs of popcorn kernels and 1 teaspoon of olive oil into a small microwave bowl with a lid on BUT vent open. Cook in the microwave for 2 – 3 minutes on High. Listen carefully, from 2 minutes – when you hear no popping for 2-3 seconds, the popcorn should be ready  Be careful when removing the lid after cooking, it will be very hot. (Cooking times will vary depending on Microwave wattage).
  • Stovetop Method:Heat a saucepan over medium heat, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil. When it is hot, place 2 tbs of popcorn kernels into a saucepan and cook over medium heat and place on the lid. Shake the saucepan frequently while cooking to help prevent them from burning.  It usually takes about 3-4 minutes on the stove-top. When popping stops for 2 – 3 seconds – popcorn is usually ready.
